James Slayman is a veteran who was drafted into the Army, where he saw battle in Africa, Sicily, and Italy and earned high praises from General Patton. Slayman witnessed many of his men perish during the and himself escaped death countless times from a jeep explosion to a shoot-out on patrol. During his time in Italy he was able to visit Pompeii and explore unique cuisines from the locals. One memory that sticks with him is how the Italians turned on their own leader, Mussolini.
